Privacy Policy
Effective October 22, 2026.
This policy covers this website, exchristianscience.com, run by The Ex-Christian Scientist (“we”). Questions about it go to exchristianscientist@gmail.com.
What the site collects
Visiting. The site is served by Cloudflare, which records the technical details of each request, such as your IP address, in its logs. The site sets no cookies and uses no analytics or advertising trackers.
Your theme choice. If you pick the light or dark theme, your browser remembers the choice in its own storage. It is never sent to us.
Searching. Search runs in your browser. We don’t receive what you search for.
Sharing your story. The story form asks for your email address, your story, an optional name or pseudonym, and whether you want to be credited or kept anonymous. When you send it, it is emailed to our inbox at exchristianscientist@gmail.com. The site itself does not store it.
The spam check. The story form makes your browser solve a small puzzle before it sends. The check runs on this site and sets no cookies. To stop a solved puzzle being reused, the site keeps the puzzle’s one-time code until it expires, and nothing about you.
Videos. Embedded YouTube videos are links until you click one. Then the video plays from YouTube’s privacy-enhanced service (youtube-nocookie.com), and YouTube’s privacy policy applies.
Comments. Comments are closed. The comments shown under older posts are an archive from the site’s earlier years. They show the name each commenter gave, the date, and what they wrote. Their email addresses and IP addresses were not carried over.
What we do with it
We read the stories you send, write back to you at the address you gave if we have questions, and publish a story only as you asked, anonymously or with the name you gave. We don’t sell your information, share it for advertising, or use it to train AI models.
Who else handles it
- Cloudflare hosts the site and delivers the story form’s email.
- Google runs the Gmail inbox the stories arrive in.
- YouTube plays a video once you click it.
- Amazon. Links to Amazon carry our Associates tag, so we may earn a commission when you buy something there. Amazon’s privacy policy applies once you follow one.
Each of them handles your information under its own terms and privacy policy.
How long we keep it
Stories stay in our inbox for as long as we need them to consider, publish, or follow up on them. Spam-check codes are deleted once they expire. Cloudflare keeps its request logs under its own policy.
Your choices
To see what we hold about you, correct it, or have it deleted, including a story you sent or a comment in the archive, write to exchristianscientist@gmail.com from the address in question, and we’ll do it. The site works with your browser’s storage turned off: the theme follows your system setting, and a theme you pick lasts only for the page you’re on.
California residents
California’s Online Privacy Protection Act asks us to say how we respond to Do Not Track signals. We don’t track visitors across websites, and the site behaves the same whether or not your browser sends one.
If you live in California, you can ask to know what personal information we hold about you and how we use it, to have it deleted, and to have it corrected, and we won’t treat you differently for asking. This policy is our notice of what we collect. We don’t sell personal information or share it for cross-context behavioral advertising. To make a request, email exchristianscientist@gmail.com; we’ll confirm the request came from the address concerned before acting on it.
Changes
We may update this policy. The date at the top tells you when it last changed.
